(1)What you hear and the simile on laughting point:-
=Einstein and Oppenheimer are smarter than both Dumb&Dumber(1994) on comparison;just like when I compare with the two foolish guys;they are more dumber under my eyes;but they are (smarter before my eyes).Hence from the "Toaste-master's speech" that this is the funny opoint.

(2)I started trying to find something I can stamp on everybody.Finding something I can stamp on everybody.People (were the pathway) to my success.
I learnt something from everybody.I became important to everybody.
"pathway" means track made by people walking(gerund).Keep to the path or you may lost your way.This is what he learnt from the car-park pathway !!!!!
The path finder is somebody sent on ahead to find a route for you to move along.He is a pioneer.
He is a pathway for You !
Hence people were the pathway to your success;
