Every company in the world has its specific requirements when it comes to hiring staff. These requirements are mostly specified and demanded by the bosses (owners). Although the requirements are different for each company, they have something in common. In the following, I am going to present to you three of these common requirements:
First, (the punctuality) almost every employer would want their employees to be punctual, not to be late for work and leave early for no reasons. Punctuality demonstrates individual's sense of responsibility. Employees having sense of responsibility can be trusted and relied upon by their employers for assigning the jobs to them, and will not waste their work time being late or leaving early.
Second, (the credibility) employers would also want their employees to be credible. If you promise to do something, or you are arranged to complete a task, then you are committed to finishing it. For this reason, the boss would start looking into your credibility if you often fail to complete your job assignments on time (or fail to keep your promise). I believe the boss will choose to discard you for not having the basic personal attribute of being credible. (~ for having no credibility.)
Third, (the productivity) employers would definitely want their employees to be productive. Employees with high work efficiency can help speed up the progress of work, directly increasing the earnings (revenues) and reducing the expenses of the company. Every boss would be happy to see the profit grow and therefore, would naturally appreciate your effort (recognize your worth) for being able to help make profit for the company.
In conclusion, we must meet the requirements set by the company and the boss by all means. We must go all out for our jobs (and make every effort during working hours), letting your boss realize you are passionate about the company. They will eventually like you even though they are very demanding.
