"Hire Just One" is a plan that gives $1,000 to charity in the name of companies that hire workers who need jobs. Some don't believe this plan will work. What do you think?

It would have no effect whatsoever on hiring decisions. If a company needs another worker, they're going to hire one regardless of whether or not a donation gets made in their name. If they don't need one, they're not going to hire one just because a charity would get $1,000 out of it. If they just want $1,000 to go to a particular charity, they'll just give that money to the charity directly.

I don't believe someone will hire someone so that a company gives a donation in their name.

I think it is a pretty dumb idea. Companies are in business to make money. When it is determined that they need additional employees to make more money, they don't need incentives. They will not contribute to charity by hiring an employee unless they need one. They will just contribute to charity directly, if it helps their corporate image.

Where are the $1000 contributions coming from?
