=When two actions happened in the past one after another, we use the past perfect tense for the first action.

=wrong by putting at the end of sentence; unless all use the simple past tense throughout for sequence of tense is Okay !
hence A is correct, while B is incorrect.

propoesed amendment:-(A) he-subj=arriving be used in Inverted sense=On arriving.(B) as soon as he was arriving by putting at end.

(A) On arriving at his office, he turned on the computer and checked
his e-mail.
(B) He turned on the computer and checked his e-mail as soon as he
had arrived at his office.
為甚麼A對B錯?


had arrived 應改為 arrived.
as soon as後面的瞬間動詞不可用完成式。
就是這麼簡單。
時間副詞子句放在句尾沒有問題。

因為A的主詞he are 省路,且正在進行中,用arriving,一般中文敘述,在英文就要用倒裝句開頭,而非B的 寫法
B可改成 As soon as he is arriving at his office ,he turned on the computer and

checked his e-mail
