I registered to vote online but already had a card in post at my family home? What do I do?

I've been in this rental property for almost 2 yrs but still keep everything to my parents address like provisional drivers licence, parcels etc & I registered to vote online over a wk ago thinking I had to change it to my current address even though I'm not planning on staying at this place another few months or so. But nothing has come in post for my current address so should I use the poll card for my parents house tomorrow to vote? Thanks!!

Your registration to vote may have been a bit late - the latest date to register in time for the general election was 20 April. If you did it after that, you were too late. If you did it before that, ring the electoral registration department at your local council in the morning to see if you're on the register - I had reason to do this a few years ago and they happily told me - and if you are, ask where your polling station is if you don't already know. Then you can just pop along and vote. You don't need a poll card, as every poll card says on it.

If you turn out not to be registered where you live now, then you can vote from your parents' address as you're on the register there.

It has to be said that the change to individual registration and scrapping the annual canvass form we all used to get every autumn has caused a lot of people to fall off the register because they didn't know. Still - you ARE at least on the register somewhere so you can vote.
