Just got my house appraised?

I just got my house appraised today. I asked my mom and dad several days before the man came to inspect why the house was getting appraised but they told me its none of my business and "just because." They still won't tell me why this man came and why he took pictures and measurements. Why would I need my house appraised? Am I going to move houses?

They are either refinancing their mortgage or selling the house.

Most likely it is because they are refinancing the house. This is usually done as a cost savings method.
If the house was being sold, almost always the buyer pays for the appraisal when during the transaction (ie. there would be a sign on your front lawn).

Typically it's an early stage of the sales process, but might be used as collateral for a loan.
Sorry your a bit vague about "my house" was it gifted to you, is it parents property they are allowing you to stay in. Normally a home owner's parents have no say in their business.
