Yes, I just read an online article about NASA scientists discovering time-travel by accident when they were looking to make new propulsion technology for tomorrow's new line of spacecraft.

No, but it may, at least into the future. I once watched a fantastic documentary on it, but I forget what it was called. I'll try to find it and link you to it.
Anyhow, time travel into the past is pretty impossible, considering there's not multiple timelines to travel through like in the movies. There's only one, and it only goes forward. Plus, to go into the past, you have to enter a little wormhole, and it's too small to enter. (And there's no way to expand it) The wormholes are everywhere apparently, though.
Time travel into the future may be possible one day. It would work the way the original Superman movie did it. We'd have to travel around the world really, really fast, but it may be a possibility one day.
