Expand and simplify (x+5) (x+3)?

FOIL, me telling you the answer will not help you on the test. X^2 + 8X +15

x * 3 Outside


5 * x Inside


5 * 3 Last

(x+5) (x+3)

= x*x + 3*x + 5*x + 5*3

= x^2 + 3x + 5x + 15

= x^2 + 8x + 15

It is as easy as just going down the line and multipling first the "x" and then the "5"....

(x+5)(x+3) -----> x*x + x*3 + 5*x + 5*3 -----> (x^2) + 3x +5x +15 ------> x^2+8x+15

and there is your answer

x² + 8x + 15
