What's more addictive - Alcohol or Nicotine?

I wonder because I don't habitually use tobacco. However, I've used it frequently over the last few years - but ONLY when I drink. The thought of it sober is sickening, of no interest, and when I smell cigarette smoke I have to leave the room. I get no cravings and it isn't even a thought until I have a drink or two.

Now the reason I use tobacco is generally to offset the drowsiness of drinking. Nicotine makes you more alert. But I've used it a lot, I'm a frequent drinker (stopping because I feel I drink too often) so every time I drink I crave nicotine. My brother is a habitually smoker. Smokes as soon as he wakes up, ect. There have been episodes where I've smoked several cigarettes in one night. Then go a month without even a thought of it until I drink.

So what's more addictive? I was always told nicotine is highly addictive but drinking is way more appealing. And I can't stress enough how I HATE the idea of using tobacco sober ... There isn't even a thought that crosses my mind.

I would say nicotine based on my scientific knowledge and
obsession is a little different than addiction

because most addictions are physical too
as in, your body becomes used to it

but the body cannot really be used to alcohol

as far as my theory goes, I think alcoholics (not saying you are) are people that get obsessed with the state they are in after alcohol

such as less stress or calm or whatever
and they also have certain ideals and expectations of alcohol
for example
they think 'if I drink, this will happen, I will be happier, etc'

even if they don't actually produce more of the happy hormones after drinking

but nicotine especially is a drug that has causes a me take obsession as well as physically inhibiting the body

ps
I am kinda busy now
so I didn't read your whole question
I am sorry

I just hope this helped a little

maybe I'll read it later

I have to argue with that it's "not a gateway drug." Over time people become dependent on that high and over time that high isn't enough. So they starting doing more and more. Until they realize they can move on to bigger and better stuff (and save money by getting a better high from the other drug rather than doing a lot of their original drug) This may not be the case for all but it's the case for many. Plus all what would come out of this is that more people would end up doing the drug and then begin smoking in their car or on the job, ect. To add to that if the Government charges 5 bucks for a certain amount and the dealer down the street will get you better stuff for 3. Most will go to the dealer and thats not even including if you were growing your own stuff.

Nicotine is almost instantly addictive. And poisonous as well.

Oh definitely nicotine. Most people can drink alcohol regularly and never get addicted, whereas most people who smoke even just a few cigarettes get addicted right away.

Both are equally addictive.
But the consequences of going cold turkey differ greatly.
You can quit nicotine and the worst you will feel is sick.
If you are a true alcoholic and try to quit cold-turkey, you could end up in hospital or dead, due to the way the body reacts to not having it.
