F1 visa overstayed, can I still get a tourist visa?

Hi,
I was studying in US for a couple years and I graduated on May 2014, then I traveled around and left the country on August 15 ,2014 (my student visa expired on August 4,2014).
However , I want to attend to my friends graduation on September 2015, and planning to stay there for two weeks, is it possible for me to acquire a tourist visa and enter the states?

Thank you

At the very least, you're not legally barred from getting a visa. It's up to the interviewing officer to determine whether you are eligible or not. The officer may very well ask you why it took you 3 months to find the airport after classes ended. But they can still issue you if they like your answer. might be a bit hard to convince them to issue though.

You can apply for a visitor's visa, the B2, but I doubt that you will get it based on your previous overstay. But it doesn't hurt trying.

You overstayed, and you knew better. Actually, the last day of full-time class attendance was the last day your visa was valid, so you not only overstayed your visa's validity, but the grace period as well! Forget the tourist visa. Forget returning to the US. Waste of money trying to apply. You're in bad odor with the US now & forever.
