Can you swap Xbox live gold membership from one console to another?

I'm thinking of upgrading my Xbox 360 to an Xbox One soon, but I'm only 2 months into a year's paid Xbox Live Gold membership. Will I easily be able to continue using that same membership on the new xbox just by signing in with my existing account or will I lose it completely during the changeover?

You don't need to swap, you can use it on both at the same time - I have a 360 and a One, and just pay once for Gold.
Just sign in with the same account and it'll sort it all out for you.

The Gold membership is attached to the account. You can log into the same account on both boxes and you'll have the same 2 months left in your subscription on both consoles.
