Should I keep playing basketball?
I've been playing basketball for 4 years and I've been doing year round basketball for a year. (Since last spring). I really like the game and I liked my regular season team. I'm going into highschool this fall and I want to play basketball then. I don't really want to play spring/summer ball because I'm treated like the worst on the team even though im not "bad". I always am the one to sit out when we practice with more players than we need. Games haven't started yet but I probably won't play then either. Also, they play me down low and I was always a guard last season. I'm shorter than the rest of the posts and I'm not going to do well against them. This whole situation makes me feel sick. My parents also paid a lot of money for this league which makes me feel worse. I don't want to be ungrateful but I don't want to be turned away from basketball forever. It just comes down to how I don't like the coaches decisions and Im sure I'm not bad at basketball. I'm equally good at ball handling with both hands and I can shoot pretty consistent threes and I'm consistent with every other shot. I'm not the fastest on the team but im not the slowest. And I try and im not disrespectful at practice. I don't know.

If you are dedicated and work hard at the game you will play. Play in the summer on any league you can play on. Play against players that are better than you. This will make you better. Above all practice, practice, and practice some more. Becoming really good at any sport takes dedication and determination with hours of practice. Do not let anyone tell you that you are not good enough. Prove to them that you are. You can be as good as you want. It all depends on just how badly you want it.
I think you should keep playing because you will miss the sport. About your coach though, maybe talk to him, persuade him or show him that you are better then what he thinks you are. If the guys on your team are taller then you, use that to your advantage!! If you like the game don't let anyone take that away from you, while you play what your coach makes you do, give it your all and don't back down. Just keep practicing maybe if he sees that you also are putting effort, then he will know how dedicated you are to the game! good luck!
