The unemployment rate in North Carolina is below the national average at 5.4%. This means the number of people included in the workforce that are currently collecting unemployment checks is 54 out of every 1,000. This doesn't necessarily mean more people aren't searching for work, it just means they aren't included because their unemployment benefits ran out before they found a job. Also, it doesn't mean people who are employed part time aren't in competition with others seeking full time employment like they once had.

That being said, Texas & Florida are leading at job openings at the moments because of the large number of businesses that have been encouraged to move to those states. North Carolina is fairly low on that totem pole at number 27 out of 50 states. It is a bit difficult to find a job in North Carolina, but not impossible.

It's ALWAYS hard to get a job. You can learn better ways to look for a job. You can't really do anything about the unemployment rate.
