Should I buy a copy of The Catcher In The Rye or To Kill A Mockingbird?
I have one book voucher to use that can afford me one book, and though I love to read books, I don't usually buy books (parents think it's a waste of money when you have libraries), so I want to make sure I get the right book. I love The Catcher In The Rye, haven't read To Kill A Mockingbird yet, but I've seen the movie, and I have a feeling the book is going to become one of my favourites. To give you an idea of my taste, my fave books are The Catcher In The Rye, The Outsiders (S.E. Hinton), The Great Gatsby, Harry Potter series. Thanks for reading all this! What do you think I should buy?

To kill a mockingbird was boring as hell and the message wasn't even something groundbreaking. I hated it when I had I read it for school last year. Catcher is much more fun because Holden is 100x more interesting than any of the charcters in to kill a mockingbird.
Mockingbird is in my all-time-best list of novels. While I enjoyed Catcher, it's not on that list.
Personally, I loved To Kill a Mockingbird! Shallow readers will tell you that it's a book about a guy standing up to racism, and that may be the case, but that's just the surface layer. It has a ton of great symbolism, irony, and messages (not to mention some of my all time favorite quotes) and chances are you'll read it and love it and want to read it again and again. Get TKaM. You won't regret it.
參考: Had to do a report on it as summer reading for my honours English class in 10th grade.
if you have already read catcher in the rye, then buying a book you have not alreqdy read might be better. i am shocked that your parents think buying books is a waste of money though. there is nothing better you can spend your money on.
