I am not sure the differences between "limit to" and "limit on"

e.g.
I guess there is a limit on how many eggs can be held in a person's hand.
I guess there is a limit to how many eggs can be held in a person's hand.

There are two definition of "limit" in dictionary.

(1) GREATEST (or smallest) AMOUNT ALLOWED
= restriction
In this meaning, you should use "limit on" something.

e.g. There is no limit on the speed in this express way.
e.g. The EU has set strict limits on levels of pollution.

(2) GREATEST AMOUNT POSSIBLE
= a point at which something stops being possible or existing
In this meaning, you should use "limit to" something.

e.g. There is a limit to the amount of pain we can bear.

(1) I guess there is a limit on how many eggs can be held in each competitor's hand.
(it is a competition where competitors transfer eggs using their hands from one place to the other.)

(2) I am sure there is a limit to how many eggs can be held n a person's hand.
(it is an obvious rule of nature as eggs are countable, which should have a limit put on a limited space, you hand)

(1) differences between "limit to" and "limit on":(i)limit to – emphasizes more on the word " to",i.e. the limit(極限) to which a person can hold a certain no. of eggs in his hand(meaning, not more than this certain limit)(ii)limit on - emphasizes more on the fact that "the no. of eggs which a person can hold in his hand has a limit" as a whole.(2) 1 more example : I shall limit my speech to/on only three aspects of the subject. (i)limit to – emphasizes more on the no. of aspects – only 3, and not more.(ii)limit on - emphasizes more on the fact that“the speech will be on only three aspects of the subject” (3) However, there are some cases where using either "limit to" or "limit on" will be more preferable. e.g. We have to limit our expenses to what we can afford .e.g. The membership of YWCA is limited to women.e.g. There is a limit on the extent to which a country can enact and enforce laws criminalizing the behavior of non-citizens
e.g.The U.S. government limits on the amount of cash to bring to U.S.A.

LIMIT ON / TO HAND

比ON 為多.

there's no weight limit on hand baggage

I guess there is a limit on how many eggs can be held in a person's hand.
