Can you set a Canon printer to not require color ink?

I want to set my Canon MG2100 series printer so that it won't make me replace the color ink. I only print in black ink, but for some reason the color ink gets used to anyway. I think it's a scam honestly, but I would just like to "turn off" the color and only replace the black ink from now on...is there some kind of setting to look for?

Sell it and get a black and white printer. Even by setting it to black and white uses colour so NO there is no way to do what you want with a COLOUR printer. That is what pure black and white ones are for!

Try setting it to black/monochrome only.

If you do a lot of black printing, consider getting a laser printer. The initial investment is slightly higher, but cost per sheet is about 95% less.
