Newton's Law of Gravitation was developed from postulation and scientific measurements. The Law doesn't explain the origin of gravity. It is thus only an approximation at places where gravitational field is not so strong.
Mercury is a planet closest to the sun. As such, it experiences very strong gravitational force. There is a discrepancy between the actual orbit of Mercury with that calculated by Newton's Gravitational Law due to the uncertainty of the latter.
The General Relativity developed by Einstein uses "space warp" to explain the origin of gravity. It is more accurate that the approximate formulation of Newton's gravitational law and hence can figure out the orbit of Mercury precisely.
