an otaku is someone who is more condensed with anime and manga than they are with the real world... its not a magical number (oh you watched 10 anime you are now a otaku)

okay first off, I hope you realize otaku is an insult in japan and is ROUGHLY the equivalent to 'geek' In America. They're looked down upon in Japan for they just stay home all the time and watch anime, read manga, play games and collect merchandise. I mean they're overly obsessed with it and they're looked down upon for the fact that they spend all day of their life just obsessing over a cartoon (damn that hurt to type). An otaku just watches a lot of anime, reads a ton of manga, and plays a lot of games. They're usually good with technology (but not all are). Some even have a blog and go to conventions to buy merchandise, manga and cosplay. I think that people seem to forget that being an otaku is not something you are to be proud of for adults are basically frowning upon you and make you out to be lower than a human being. They also DONT just watch anime but read manga and play lots of video games. They usually collect figures, some even have body pillows and other merchandise. There's no set number of anime to be watched, games to play or manga to read to be considered an otaku; you're just an otaku if that's literally all you do. Like some don't go to school or have a job and at that point they're considered to be a NEET. Which isn't all that great. So I highly doubt you want to turn into an otaku but be my guest.
