The atmosphere is the mixture of gas molecules and other materials surrounding the earth. It is made mostly of the gases nitrogen (78%), and oxygen (21%). Argon gas and water (in the form of vapor, droplets and ice crystals) are the next most common things. There are also small amounts of other gases, plus many small solid particles, like dust, soot and ashes, pollen, and salt from the oceans.

The blue color of the sky is due to Rayleigh scattering. As light moves through the atmosphere, most of the longer wavelengths pass straight through. Little of the red, orange and yellow light is affected by the air.

However, much of the shorter wavelength light is absorbed by the gas molecules. The absorbed blue light is then radiated in different directions. It gets scattered all around the sky. Whichever direction you look, some of this scattered blue light reaches you. Since you see the blue light from everywhere overhead, the sky looks blue.

As you look closer to the horizon, the sky appears much paler in color. To reach you, the scattered blue light must pass through more air. Some of it gets scattered away again in other directions. Less blue light reaches your eyes. The color of the sky near the horizon appears paler or white.

thats the way it was colored

A clear cloudless day-time sky is blue because molecules in the air scatter blue light from the sun more than they scatter red light. When we look towards the sun at sunset, we see red and orange colours because the blue light has been scattered out and away from the line of sight

Light is a mixture of RED ORANGE YELLOW GREEN BLUE INDIGO and VIOLET.
As seen in a RAINBOW .. which is caused when light is ''split up'' by water droplets in the air.
Well .. when light hits the Earth's atmosphere it is also ''split up..
BLUE comes straight down .. So when you look up you see BLUE.
Of course there are times (early morning, late evening) when you can see RED and ORANGE as well.

It's the only color of the color spectrum of light that is reflected into the atmosphere of the earth.

Back in 2394 B.C. a man named Hilocretes threw water in the sky and it turned blue. And after the dinosaurs died the sky was red from their blood!

refraction of sunlight through the water vapor in the sky

Meteorology is really not my field of study.
I work in Chemistry and Biology, but I do read about the other sciences,

It's how the light reflects off of things

because of ocean.

white light from the sun constitutes colours of rainbow known as VIBGYOR colours.
blue has short wavelength and red has longer wavelength.according to the rule colours with short wavelength scatters more.hence blue is seen.this phenomenon is known as rayleigh scattering.

it isn't it's transparent. It appears blue to do rayleigh scattering which means blue light is scattered more than red. Also the human eye is not that sensitive to short wavelengths especially violet.

Light from the Sun Contains all the colors. Blue Light has the shortest wave length and is scattered more in the Earth's air. It is called Rayleigh Scattering.

due to refraction of indigo and voilet colors from the sun
