How do YOU pronounce Anastasia?
Most people pronounce it wrong, do you?

It depends. I have Russian friends with the name Anastasia, and when I address them, I pronounce it the proper Russian way (Ah-na-sta-SEE-ya -- with the accent on the "Si"). But as an American, I prefer the pronunciation "Anna-Stay-Zha" when I think of the name. While the original Greek and Russian pronunciation may be the legitimate one, I think there is no true "correct" pronunciation. All of the various ways to say it are legitimate variants. It just depends on your language of origin, much like Genevieve is pronounced differently in English speaking countries than it is in French speaking ones.
ahn uh stah see uh. Ana STAS ia
ahn-ah-STAYZJ-ah
Like the word "synesthesia" or "euthanasia."
I'm not really a fan no matter how it's pronounced.
I usually pronounce it Anna-stay-shuh because that's how people that I have known with the name have pronounced it, but I prefer the Ah-nuh-STAH-see-uh pronunciation.
I pronounce it however the person asks me to pronounce it. There is no "correct" pronunciation, since it has several origins. For instance, the ones I met in Greece were almost exclusively anna-sta-CEE-a, whereas in Italy they were anna-STA-zee-a. And of course in France it's closer to how Americans say it as anna-STAY-zjah (although the French accent is difficult to put in English phonetics).
I hear it most often as Anna-STAY-zjah, so thats the pronunciation I would initially say. It can also be said as Ahna-STAY-zjah. I'd be curious to know what pronunciation your talking about, when you say most people pronounce it wrong. Its a name that I'm sure is said differently depending on the region.
