A square has a perimeter of 4x + 12. What is its area?

So just the equation. The answer is (x^2 + 6x + 9)units ^2

I'm not really sure how to figure this out and need help. It would be great if you could show me your working out as well please! Thank you so much

((4x + 12)/4)²

= (x + 3)²

= (x + 3)(x + 3)

= x(x + 3) + 3(x + 3)

= x² + 3x + 3x + 9

= x² + 6x + 9 <-- Answer

Though, it would almost be simpler to express it in it's factored form (x + 3)²

Perimeter of a square = 4 x side

So side = (4x+12)/4 = (x+3)

Area = side^2 = (x+3)^2 = x^2 + 6x + 9

s = (4x + 12) / 4
s = x + 3

s^2 = A

(x + 3)^2 = A
(x + 3)(x + 3) = A
x^2 + 3x + 3x + 9 = A
x^2 + 6x + 9 = A

area = x^2 + 6x + 9 units^2

P = 4 sides---> side = P / 4 and area = side²
