Is there any loophole I can use to get COMRATS in the Marines?

I am an e-4, have been at this duty station (Oki) for 2 years. I've had a meal card the whole time. I just hate it; I'm not complaining "oh the chowhall is so unhealthy" but I can be a bit of a health nut. I earn the freaking money, if I WANT to spend it on my own food that should be my choice, right? I just like/want to cook my own stuff... I submitted for it when I was taking college classes because I had to skip evening meals, and my command didn't care. Any ideas?

No ... you do not "earn" the BAS that is in your paycheck. That is one of the great myths of the military since they started adding BAS to everyone's check as an accounting issue.
The Government is required to provide you with rations and quarters in addition to your pay. The only reason that the BAS is in your paycheck is as an accounting feature that helps DFAS handles rations charges. This is a relatively recent thing that has only been around for about 10-15 years.
You are not allowed to be cooking in the barracks anyway, so that argument is never going to work.
Going to classes, and missing meals, is on you, not the Service. You could have put in a request for missed meals, and that might have gone thorugh, but I am betting you simply put in to go off the meal card - and that aint gonna happen.
Bottom line: you do not 'earn' the BAS amount, and there are no loopholes - because honestly, guy, if there were, don't you think that every swinging richards would have figured it out by now?

since they are providing you with free food, they are under zero obligation to give you money to buy your own groceries. so unless you switch to a schedule where your duty hours are such that you are unable to visit the chow hall at all while it is open, you are SOL.

No because the military is under ZERO obligation to give you money for food but they do. Plus you realize that it is only around $3 a meal in the end. Eat what you can/want in the mess and then use your PAY to buy other groceries. That's why you get COLA, Basic Pay, etc... Just be glad you can use the commissary to buy things.
Also taking college classes isn't a valid reason to get BAS. It wasn't under orders it was something you wanted to do.

You normally can not get BAS overseas unless it is an accompanied tour with dependents
Even if you did you are not allowed to cook in the barracks
And no you earn you base pay and pro pay, you don't earn BAS

sure. you can spend of the money you earn as part of your salary and eat wherever the heck you want! simple.
