belief in God is based on creation
God has revealed His power through His creation.
Atheism is a pretense - an emotional choice to deny the reality of the Creator. But God isn't fooled. The unbeliever has no excuse.

that which can be known about God is made plain to everyone; God has shown it to everyone. For the invisible things of Him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead; so that everyone is without excuse

The Holy Bible is found in the reference section of a library - not under fiction.

Apparently we know things that you don't.

How can you have nothing better to do than to be nasty to those with different views than your own? How sad.

Belief in God will ultimately be a matter of faith because absolute proof (or disproof) of the supernatural will never be found. However modern Astrophysics has proven the existence of God beyond a reasonable doubt.

Newton's Third Law of Motion states "For every action there is equal and opposite reaction." Every action in the universe was caused by a prior equal and opposite reaction.

If we logically follow each and every action and reaction back to the beginning then logically there has to be a first action without a prior equal and opposite reaction. Modern astrophysicists call this event the Big Bang.

This first action was completely independent of outside forces. This action was God, the un-caused cause, creating the universe. This proof also fulfills the principle of Occam's Razor.

By the way, it was Georges Lemaître (1894–1966), a Belgian Catholic priest and professor of physics and astronomy, who proposed what became known as the Big Bang theory of the origin of the Universe. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Georges_Lem...

Another beyond a reasonable doubt:

A universe in which life has a chance to exist can only happen in where a couple of dozen universal constants coincide, including:
+ Minimum interval of space
+ Minimum unit of time
+ Planck's Constant
+ Maximum velocity
+ Gravitational Attraction Constant
+ Weak Force Coupling Constant
+ Strong Nuclear Force Coupling Constant
+ Rest Mass of a Proton
+ Rest Mass of an Electron
+ Electron or Proton Unit Charge
+ Minimum Mass of the Universe
+ Total Visible Rest Mass
+ Boltzmann's Constant
+ Hubble Constant
+ Cosmological Constant
+ Cosmic Proton/Photon Ratio
+ Permittivity of Free Space
+ Electromagnetic Fine-Structure Constant
+ Weak Fine-Structure Constant
+ Gravitational Fine-Structure Constant

A couple of percent difference in any one of these constants would make the universe completely uninhabitable. Roger Penrose, a peer of Hawking, calculated that the chance of a universe capable of supporting life as we know it as one part in 10 raised to the power of 10 raised to the power of 123.

This fine tuning of the universe, while not an absolute proof of God, can be used to help prove the existence of God beyond a reasonable doubt.

What worried me more right here though is what kind of person goes to a forum of a subject matter about which the people who are interested therein he has little but disdain? What pleasure gets you off, poking religious people with a virtual pointy stick? Please don't.

Don't like dinosaurs? Then stop hanging around in a dinosaur related forum!

If God does not exist, your question is irrelevant.
If God exists, your question is redundant.

Three words disqualify your statement. Dead Sea Scrolls.
I have studied the Bible for almost 3 decades now. I grew up not believing in it. Now I am 100% convinced it really is God’s Word.
Most people who say foolish things about the Bible have never studied it.
They claim it has been changed – yet when the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered in the mid 20th century (in a cave near the Dead Sea in Israel) – they had been there since BEFORE the time of Jesus. So, we now had copies dating back 1,000 years past the oldest copies that we had up to that point.
If the writing in the Bible had been changed, they would have been completely different from the Dead Sea Scrolls. Guess what. The whole book of Isaiah was found (most other books were fragments) and it was virtually the SAME as the Bible we have today.
The Jewish people did an excellent job of preserving the text. The scribes had as their occupation copying the text. They went meticulously over every letter. They preserved the text for millennia.

Check out this excellent article by Dr. Michael Brown published by Newsweek Magazine on the reliability of the Bible.

POINT 2
If the Bible is just a normal book – how do you explain the fact that it has **predictive prophecy** that was fulfilled in it?
According to the Jewish Bible, which accurately predicted the Messiah and His role (and was written centuries before Jesus ever arrived. )
The Messiah was to be:
• Born in Bethlehem..... The Jewish prophet said so in Micah 5:2
• Reach many in Galilee..... The Jewish prophet said so in Isaiah 9:1
• Born a descendant of David..... The Jewish prophet said so in 2 Samuel 7:12-13
• Be a Leader like Moses.......... The Jewish prophet said so in Deuteronomy 18:18
• Enter Jerusalem on a donkey..... The Jewish prophet said so in Zechariah 9:9
• Arrive after King David died..... The Jewish prophet said so in 2 Samuel 7:12-13
• A rejected man....... The Jewish prophet said so in Isaiah 53:3
• Die as a substitute for others..... The Jewish prophet said so in Isaiah 53:5
• Be pierced..................... The Jewish prophet said so in Zechariah 12:10
• Rise from the dead...... The Jewish prophet said so in Isaiah 53:10
• Have followers from all nations...... The Jewish prophet said so in Daniel 7:14

And even MORE important..............

• Messiah was to arrive BEFORE The Temple was destroyed in 70 C.E..... See -> Daniel 9:26 (Rome destroyed the Temple in the year 70CE. And Daniel (written centuries before this event) said the Messiah would arrive before this was to happen.
This is just the start…. Many more prophecies fulfilled.
Again – these Jewish writers all wrote centuries before Messiah Jesus ever arrived. So how do people conspire over centuries to make a fallacy? (ie. I will write this prophecy 700 years earlier and you – in the future claim fulfillment in Jesus.) Really – How?? They cannot talk to each other across time?? Important Point. Please explain that if possible.
It would be like you writing a book TODAY and making prophecies about a man to live in the future year 2715.
A) Why would you even bother?
B) How could you conspire with the people then (700 years from now) to make sure it was fulfilled?
No other “religious book” has this. That is what makes the Bible so unique.

And this is just the start…..
The list goes on and on,

There is not a shadow of doubt - Yeshua (Jesus in Hebrew) was/is the Messiah of Israel.
參考: . I am an Author and a Jewish Believer in Jesus (a Messianic Jew) for 27+ years. Grew up in a Conservative Jewish home in NYC. Both parents Jewish. Father was in in Israeli army. I have now taught about the Jewish Jesus, as a guest speaker, in 26 States across the USA.

You have some odd, and incorrect ideas on what the Bible is.

Is it the safety and anoymity of the internet? The atheists I know in real life are smarter and not so full of themselves. Or is it that rebellious teenagers come here claiming to be "atheists"?

Many people have faith inside of them. And faith is something hard to describe, so they look for help in the scriptures to make it clear to themselves and use the metaphors of it to communicate with each other.

anyone dumb enough to believe god had anything to do with the writing of the bible
either hasn't read it in it's entirety or is so brainwashed/indoctrinated
that they "choose" to ignore their own faculties of reason and logic.

Do you ever read stories that are nonfiction?
God didn't write it, but people who were super close to him did. Matthew, Mark, Luke and John all told the same story from their own part.
You can feel his presence when your close to him.
He is there.

Did you know that a significant portion of the Bible was written before the Roman Empire existed? So it sounds like you don't know what you are talking about. A lot!
2015-02-05 12:04 am
Given the earliest books of the Bible can be dated back to the 12th century BC you are asserting that the Romans had the ability to travel in time -- (Do you really expect us to believe that ?)

Genesis does not say the world was created 5777 years ago. It says this current generation of the earth began about that time and there were earlier generations. Which is validated by the fossil record!

First off, the Bible was written in Israel, not Rome.
Second, I believe in the word of God because I don't need to personally witness a miracle to know that God has performed them in my life, and you shouldn't either.
2015-02-05 12:03 am
I reject the bible
2015-02-05 12:00 am
It's first person accounts written after they died, organized by a committee who tossed out other books about a guy who lived a few hundred years earlier.
How can you say it's not the word of God?
2015-02-05 12:47 am
God showed me the Bible is true.
