360 degrees was chosen many years ago for a complete circle since it could be divided y so many numbers (among other reasons)
It can be divided by 12 & 24. 24 was chosen as the hours per day
They seemed to be in love with 360 & 60, and chose 60 minutes per hour.

We are now stuck with this weird system.
