Why can people only have but 1 wife in the USA?

Actually, plural marriage is legal in only a very small portion of the world, and primarily (if not exclusively) to muslims in muslim countries. The vast majority of the world only allows a person to have 1 spouse at a time.

In the US the reason for that is primarily religious. The xian bible promotes monogamy (the 'new' testament).

Because it's the custom, tradition, and the law.

In other countrys the women are not free. They are treated like slaves. But here, They are equal ( for the most part!!!!) You pisss all 4 off in the same day! And live to tell about, Good luck.

If you get to know American women you wouldn't want more than one of them as a wife .

One is more than enough headache .

You can. one after the other, and pay tons of child support and alimony.

The FLDS has had sister wives since the LDS church stop practising it. You know Muslims bring both wives into this country and claim the second wife is just a relative, sometimes they are as they are a first cousin.
Also The first wife is the only wife that is legally married to the husband, all the other wives are basically living in sin with their husband.
