Horse Riding for over 5 years and never fallen... why? Everyone falls why haven't I and will I ever?

The first time I was on a horse was a beach ride and ended up cantering. I was 12. Then I got private lessons every 2 weeks for 4 years and worked in a trekking yard every day riding 1-3 hrs s day in summer. I've also had occasional jumping and group lessons in between my private lessons. I've done a dozen or so hacks outside of work and ride less than sensible horses at work. Been bucked reared and bolted with. Worst ever was when a 16 hand refused a jump and i was hanging off the side.

Actually there was one time when I was riding one of the work horses and he was lazy and i only managed to get him to canter a few strides then the employer lady swapped me over with another work girl to see if she could do anything better and he bucked her off in 3 seconds in the first canter step - so maybe I am just VERY lucky..

I would say you are A) lucky and B) probably have a good seat. Accidents happen, and even the best riders fall sometimes, so, chances are, if you continue to ride, you'll fall off someday, but if you have a good seat and react well to a horse's misbehavior, you can avoid a lot of potential falls. A little bit of luck goes a long way too. ;) I've been riding for more than 15 years and I've only fallen a handful of times. I usually go years between falls, and it's usually something silly and unexpected that dumps me off.

One day you'll fall off haha! I guess it's a matter of the horses you sit on and the situations you're put in. I have come off a billion times purely because I have ridden some pretty crazy horses and put myself is risky situations. When is comes down to horse riding you have a chance of falling off every time you sit on a pony so you just have wait for your time and trust me it will make you a better rider and have more respect for the animals and sport. It doesn't really have anything to do with your riding ability or talent when it comes to falling off horses it just comes down to chance and putting yourself in the more likely situations of falling off.

Don't worry your time will come!! I've been riding for eight year and never fell and I got bucked off for the first time the other day!😂

Consider yourself lucky. But, it will happen in time. It happens to every one at some point. Even the best riders get dumped on occasion.

For me, it's was the laid back horses that always caught me off guard. I RARELY came off the youngsters or hot horses, because I was always ready for them to do something. But put me on ol' reliable and I'm more than likely to come off because I get too relaxed.

You will some day!

Chances are you've had access to good horses, good instructors and a good seat and saddle.

Someday we all get over-horsed though.

I have been riding for 4 years and I have never fallen off. I have also been bolted, spooked, crow-hopped, spinning, rearing, bucking, refusels at jumps, you name it it has happened to me. I just have never fallen I also have very good balance. I have had to do more then one emergency dismount because a horse has been stupid while I was on bareback. You just need to be glad you have not fallen off. Hope this helped

depends:
what horse you ride
how you ride
where you ride
how fast you go
how your seat is
or maybe you just hold on better that others do...

has a horse ever bucked with you and you just held on???

Count your blessings and hopefully you never fall off and is just because you have been lucky so far and have a guardian angel. Im sure you are probably a good rider too.

I haven't fallen off in years. I've fallen off because the horse I was riding refused to stop until the very last second and I was dumped in speed events (barrel racing, etc.) various reasons I guess.

I rode horses daily for years and even broke a few. Never fell off. I guess we either have good balance or great animal instincts!

Oh sure - everybody gets dumped off sometimes. Let's just hope you don't end up like poor old Christopher Reeves! He didn't think he was going to fall off either. It cost him his life.

If you went back 100 years or more, you'd see a lot of people limping around in their 40's mostly from horse accidents.
