Why is the coach doing this and what should I do?
Ok so my highschool team has these workouts and basically practices (I'm pretty sure it's illegal) and I'm a sophomore. The entire program goes to these ( sophs+varsity). So anyway the head varsity coach, along with some of the other coaches, are being just really rude to me and I don't like it and I'm contemplating quitting. Like today the coach said "look who decided to show up today" (wasn't joking with me). I have missed a couple of the workouts, but I'm not just intentionally skipping them. Even the varsity players miss some. And later this morning when I was walking in the gym after the weight room, he says "hey looks it's (my name)" in a really mocking voice. He obviously doesn't like me, and it's making me very upset that I'm the only one that he does this to. I'm a shy kid, and he's just being a douche to me. And then one of the freshman coaches yelled "hey (my name)" really loudly for no reason when I was walking downstairs. I always just go along with it by saying hey coach back. This is bullshit and it's really upsetting me. There's even one sophomore who came to just one (of the atleast 50 workouts) and the coach has never done this to him. I miss one like one every 5 workouts, again, I'm not just skipping. Im always pleasant, work hard at baseball, but not that good at baseball. He used to really like me. For this reason, I despise going to these workouts. Can anyone give me some advice on how to handle this situation, and tell me why he's doing this.

1. It is not illegal for a team to hold off season workouts.
2. Do you inform the coach when you will miss the workouts or just no show?
Communication goes a long way.
They may sense an attitude or work ethic issue with you, better see what you need to do before you go to them.
Ask him. Best advice I got for you. Anything else is just guesswork.
