What is the difference between limes and unripe lemons?

I wanted to wear my "life" shirt and give people lemons at school tomorrow. My parents went to the market and I asked them to get some (I had to study for a test), but I think they got limes instead. They are green with about a 5 cm diameter.

Aside from the fact that they are both citrus fruit, they are two different creatures. It would be the same as ice burg and romaine lettuce; they are both lettuce but they are two different things.

It seems your symbolism hs been quite lost upon them. Why are you handling out lemons anyways?
