Me: "Right, but Id like to talk to you about Islamic terrorism."
Atheist: "Well what about the Crusades and the Inquisition??!! Those were horrible things that CHRISTIANS did, YOU KNOOOOWWWWW!!??"
Me: "I know, but can we talk about Islamic terrorism for 2 minutes?"

"There are those who hate Christianity and call their hatred an all embracing love for all religions." I think the same can be said about those who apparently have an unbiased disregard for all religions; there is something about Christianity that brings hatred from those who claim to be the great analysts.

I'm an atheist and I'd happily talk to you about Islamic terrorism without brining into it all the other instances of religiously rationalized hate and terror.

That is funny: I have spoken about muslim terrorism the whole week, and not one time did I bring up crusades and abortion clinics bombing.

So I guess this simply proves that you are talking though your hat, as usual.

You can talk about Islamic terrorism all you want, and we'll agree with you wholeheartedly.. However, if you start to claim that Christianity is a perfect religion that has never harmed anyone we'll bring up the counter examples.

Because you are talking about a particular branch or a greater evil...religious fundamentalism. Most people, when they speak of Islamists, are usually making the uncritical assumption that "we don't do it, and those that do aren't real X", and thus vilify Islam as "a religion of evil". This is a wrong headed approach, and leads to much anti-Moslem- usually extending to anti-arab- bigotry.

When you believe that "Muslim" and "terrorist" are interchangeable terms, then we can't have a conversation. Perhaps by understanding that some terrorists are not Muslim, you can realize that most Muslims are not terrorists.

I am an atheist. Talk to me about islamic terrorism.

It appears that what the atheists might be saying is, "Let's not even begin talking about it because as long as people shall live there will always be terrorism and genocide and hate."

And how could you blame them because there are also atheist examples of the same (or worse): Stalin, Pol Pot, Mao. In other words it has nothing to do with religion. It has to do with human nature.

Gotta hand it to those atheists, boy. They ARE a level-headed bunch for reminding us of that.

You can reply that the Crusades were the Christians' attempt to make the whole world Christian at the same time as the Muslims were attempting to make the whole world Muslim. The Christians had enough sense in the 1200's to conclude that that was impossible but the Muslims haven't figured it out yet.
