They are both completely diferent genera's 1D is a radio pop band singing the same vapid tunes every other radio artist is singing. 5Sos is pop punk, they play their instruments, they all have definitint roles in the band the fact that all of them sing is a bonus. The content of the lyrics are vastly different as well. 1D is pop tunes that are suppose to be catch, where as the lyrics of 5sos have feeling and meaning. Pop-Punk > Pop Music

I'm not a fan of either of these bands whatsoever but I'd say 5sos because at least they play their own instruments.

1d always, i like 5sos music and the guys are cute, but i cant be a 5sos fan, one direction already caught my heart bue

One Direction. I likely popy stuff and conforting music but I just can't fit in with 5sos's music.

One Direction, it's funny now because most 1D fans now are 5SOS fans as well, I'm one of the few who just stayed in the 1D fandom, 5SOS never appealed to me, but that doesn't mean I hate them!

This is a difficult question to answer especially when i'm a fan of both of these boybands
5SOS do bring heaps of joy to my life and are fun to listen to and are incredibly nice to their fans
1D seem to put more emotions into their music i suppose that is because of their genre. 1D are so dedicated to their fans like they do heaps to please their fans. They have been travelling around the world for almost 3 years without a long break just to perform infront of their fans and make them happy. Its so hard to think about leaving my home for so long but these boys manage to do it even when it means leaving your family just to make your fans happy
