Stevia isnt good for you. Dont sweeten things. You dont need it. I don't sweeten any of my beverages and the only "sugar" I use is raw honey and that is only 1/4 cup for my homemade breads. If you need "flavor" in drinks use the brand RealLemon or RealLime. Those wont hurt you.

I am also type 2 and doctor told me not to use any type of artificial sweeteners, I still use sugar in my tea and coffee and with no problems, carbs is the main thing you have to cut down as they turn to sugar quickly

I cut the "decoratives" from my coffee and tea many decades ago in an attempt to lose weight! Decoratives described as sugar and milk! It didn't help! So lately I have put the spoon of sugar back into my coffee! I like the real flavor of teas!

I am type 2 diabetic and have cut out all grain products, soft sweet fruits, most root veggies, most milk products and of course all desserts!

I don't like the side effects of most artificial sweeteners and stevia only tastes like some kind of bitter weed! NOT sweet! Honey is the same as using sugar in things!

Your doctor can usually have made available to you a nutritionist or other program to meet your individual needs and advise on diet and losing weight..It would be unwise to direct you here, not knowing your individual needs, and medical history.. etc. I am diabetic .. I learned a lot going.. Just ask your doctor.. many programs are free / covered by your insurance. Some counties have programs you can attend as well. i was surprised at what i can eat, i thought could never have again.. i use splenda instead of regular sugar.. Exercise, and doing it right by following proper guidelines is important.. and get the stress off.. that has been the biggest challenge for me... It affects so many areas of ones life with diabetes i have found out. It isn't all bad news.. it is life changes.. But, by following the advise of your doctor , you'll have a far better out look on life than thought it would be at first. If you don't get the support you feel need with your doctor, get another doctor... good luck..

There is a lot of stuff on the internet that is basically fat-shaming diabetics for causing their own diabetes with their bad diet and lack of exercise and general lack of moral fibre. A lot of this stuff is written by non-doctors, often with a supplement or diet or training plan to sell that they claim will completely cure diabetes if only people stick to it.

I read this interesting book https://tr.im/n8mVb that gave me a lot of useful tips about my disease and also a different perspective on the best therapeutical approach. I think you should read it too.
