Maybe as you said, 1 year in jail. I don't know, but if you intentionally kill a dog, I'd worry more about God than I would about jail.

That would depend on your local laws. Which I don't know about. Sadly dog-icide probably isn't anywhere near as likely to result in a jail sentence, as killing a human would.
In the UK, a road kill (dog) should be reported to the Police, but wouldn't mean a jail term.

We have no way of knowing as this is the WORLD WIDE web. You are asking people from all over the globe. Try doing something logical, calling your LOCAL animal control officials and asking them "I was just curious for for the heck of it, if I kill a dog will I go to prison and if so for how long?"
