Why? hasn't God performed any grand-scale, physics-defying, miraculous acts in the past 2,000 years?

Apparently he is too busy finding peoples car keys and helping teams when games.

I agree.. long over due. But I think Douglas Adams may have been on to something.

The Babel fish and the argument for the non existence of god.

The Babel fish is small, yellow and leech-like, and probably the oddest thing in the Universe. It feeds on brainwave energy received not from its own carrier but from those around it. It absorbs all unconscious mental frequencies from this brainwave energy to nourish itself with. It then excretes into the mind of its carrier a telepathic matrix formed by combining the conscious thought frequencies with the nerve signals picked up from the speech centres of the brain which has supplied them. The practical upshot of all this is that if you stick a Babel fish in your ear you can instantly understand anything said to you in any form of language. The speech patterns you actually hear decode the brainwave matrix which has been fed into your mind by your Babel fish.
Now it is such a bizarrely improbable coincidence that anything so mindbogglingly useful could have evolved purely by chance that some thinkers have chosen it to see it as a final and clinching proof of the non-existence of God.
The argument goes something like this: "I refuse to prove that I exist," says God, "for proof denies faith, and without faith I am nothing."
"But," says Man, "the Babel fish is a dead giveaway isn't it? It could not have evolved by chance. It proves you exist, and therefore, by your own arguments, you don't. QED."
"Oh dear," says God, "I hadn't thought of that," and promptly vanishes in a puff of logic.
"Oh, that was easy," says Man, and for an encore goes on to prove that black is white and gets killed on the next zebra crossing.

God created us so that we could experience his awesome love. But without sacrifice there is no love. If a dad has a little boy, who grows up perfect, how much effort does it take for him to love the boy? Now If a man has a child who screws up, and rebels against their dad, how much more love does that dad show him if he forgives him?

If God were to perform super miracles like the dead sea parting or Ebola being wiped out, everyone would flock to him. But he wants us to love him because of him! I want my wife to love me exactly as I am flaws and all, no miracles included. If she does, than I can show her love out of gratitude instead of necessity.

Because of our unbelief. When The SON of Man comes will HE find faith on the earth?

Look at all the Hispanic Catholics who see Mary and Jesus in every rock, piece of burned toast, screen door mold and cloud!!
Who says there are no miracles!
There will always be the credulous and ignorant, the brainwashed and uncritical, the low of IQ...
What some 'tribesman' thought was a miracle 2,000 years ago, is just a Bic lighter to me!

Because he's actually doing it in secret. He sends science, which is a gradual process to give healing power. So think harder about it and be patient! Your life will flash before your eyes and it's worth it!

we have the word vof god as witness to his great miracles and the salvation through jesus. he will perform great miracles again when he brings the judgment down upon the earth upon all the wicked people during the coming tribulation period

Num 14:22 because all those men who have seen my glory, and my signs, which I worked in Egypt and in the wilderness, yet have tempted me these ten times, and have not listened to my voice;

Historically speaking, the miracles don't usually work like you are thinking. Jesus performed a bunch of miracles (Jn 3:2), and he was murdered. As Jesus said:

Lk 16:31 ‘If they don’t listen to Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded if one rises from the dead.’”

Not needed.


Men cannot say they do not know about God. From the beginning of the world, men could see what God is like through the things He has made. This shows His power that lasts forever. It shows that He is God. (Romans 1:20)
