Non alcoholic fatty liver disease?

I have the above condition which was caused through diabetes, I was told by the doctors it was just bad luck that the diabetes caused the damage to my liver. As you can tell by the name it wasn't caused through alcohol as I would only drink at family do's and birthdays so if I was to say I would drink 1-2 times a month I would be over estimating. I have problems with fluid retention due to the liver damage so am also on water tablets, but what I wanted to know was, if it's okay to have the occasional drink or not because after searching google some people say it's okay and some say it's not

Extreme moderation and caution are advisable. Is your liver fibrotic? Very occasional alcohol is probably fine.

Cirrhotic? Alcohol should be avoided because your liver metabolizes alcohol and a cirrhotic liver is VERY unable to cope with breaking it down and doing so taxes it so it can not function as your blood's filter, resulting in jaundice and liver and other organ failure.

Since you are diabetic. you already have an increased chance of pancreatic cancer. If your liver is cirrhotic, you increase the odds of pancreatic failure which leads to pancreatic cancer.

Fibrotic= probably okay.
Cirrhotic= gun to the head, maybe...
