What do Pikachu's noises actually mean?

I know i'm not crazy; this is real!

In the Pokemon anime, the different noises Pikachu made actually meant different things (for example; i think Pika-Pi actually means "ASH" and Pi means "Hello!").

I know i'm not crazy because I was told about it and found a webpage about it before...but I can't find it again. Can someone please help me find out what Pikachu's different noises mean please?

According to http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Cry#In_the_anime ...

"Ash's Pikachu has been known to use the three syllables in the word "Pikachu" in various combinations to refer to several characters, including Ash (Pikapi), Misty (PiKachupi), Brock (PikaChu), Dawn (Pikaka), Togepi (Pipipi), Team Rocket (Pipikachu), Bulbasaur (Pikakapika) and "My name is Pikachu" (Pika, Pikachu)."

So there may indeed be a method to this madness.

If I remember correctly, Pika Pika may mean "Sparkle Sparkle". BTW, pikari means "Flash".

its mostly just abput context and tone, if pikachu sees ash and says something in a high voice, it could be an exclamation like "yay" or adressing him directly. if there is something in a low voice, it might be just general sadness, or resignation, its equivalent of a sigh.
