shoould I ask this girl out that I think is cute?

she works in my local super market, I think she’s really cute but the reason am unsure whether or not I should ask her out as I don t know whether she’s just being friendly or if she likes me. We’ve only chatted briefly when it comes to check-out but she seems to smile a lot and it seems different compared to talking to girls that aren’t interested in you romantically, she’s really friendly with my mum and a few weeks ago whilst chatting to my mum she told her that she was single but loud enough for me to hear. Finally yesterday in the super market am at the till with a different check out assistant and when she had served her customers she came over to help me bag the shopping. The reason why am abit scared to ask her out is, its embarrassing if she says no and it’s the super market I go all the time, there s also the added embarrassment her mentioning it to my mum when she’s in there, any help will be really appreciated.
