1.The upper limit of the side length of a regular pentagon is 4.96 cm. If the relative error of the side length of the regular pentagon is 0.00202, and the measured side length of the pentagon is 4.95 cm, find the range of the actual perimeter of the pentagon.

2. The dimensions of a cuboid are measured as 9.8 cm x 5.2 cm x 2.5 cm,correct to the nearest 1 mm. Find the range of the actual volume of the cuboid correct to the nearest 0.01 cm cube.

3. It is given that
p=1/(n-2)
(a) Make n the subject of the equation.
(b) Find the value of n when p = –2.

2. Upper limit of the actual volume of the cuboid
=9.85 cm x 5.25 cm x 2.55 cm
=131.866875 cm3

Lower limit of the actual volume of the cuboid
=9.75 cm x 5.15 cm x 2.45 cm
=123.020625 cm3

Let x cm3 be the actual volume of the cuboid.

Range of the actual volume of the cuboid
= 123.020625 cm3 </= x <131.866875 cm3

3(a).p=1/(n-2)
n-2=1/p
n=(1-2p)/p

(b)Sub p=-2 into n=(1-2p)/p
n=[1-(-4)]/-2
n=5/(-2)
n=-5/2(same as n=-2.5)
