No only do they meow but they have their own language - perhaps multiple meows with different volumes and each means something different. Too bad we can't understand them.
My cat said "Yow" when I lifted his blanket up. Of course, I had to put it back on him. I don't know why it starts with an "M" I don't hear the "mmm". Just my opinion.

But once cats get older, they use other vocalizations -- such as yowling, hissing, and growling -- to communicate with each other. Meowing is reserved for their communications with people.
