Why do some Americans think US marines can even be compared to Royal Marines Commandos?

First off I'm American. RMC's are obviously better their basic training is 8 months whereas USMC is 2 months. RM's get a weekend off before the they sit their 4 Commando tests but some Americans seem to have deluded themselves that they get every weekend off. RM's specialise in Amphibious assaults, Mountain, Desert and stealth warfare. Many of them also go on to join the UK special forces. The USMC only specialise in aspects of Amphibious warfare and Ariel warfare. RM's can also go on to become paratroopers and can specialise in many other fields. Americans argue that US marines go on further training but as I said RMC's can specialise in many other areas and regular RM's learn far more than any regular US Marines

The Royal Marines are a commando force, where the US Marine Corps is not. I am a US Marine and I have no illusions about the level of training of Commandos. I have worked with them on a couple of occasions and they are one of the most professional, tactically proficient and physically fit military organizations I have ever seen. My mountain leaders course instructor was a RMC Colors Sergeant. Whereas our MLC is 8 weeks long, his was over a year.
The US Marine Corps has an illustrious history and we instill a fierce pride in our institution. The same goes for Royal Marines. At the end of the day, we both have different missions and specializations and are good at what we do.

It is said that it is harder to train to be a Royal Marine that a US Marine, but both are going to be the best of the best, and you wouldn't want to cross either.
There training may be different at Basic but with the way they cooperate in places like Afghanistan and Iraq for example they compared their results with all of the new ways they had to fight the new types of warfare

Who cares. The RM are only about 7800 strong. The USMC are around 194,000. Different missions and capabilities. The only thing really similar to me is the word "Marine".

The US Marines have the same type of Marines within their ranks and it takes years of training, not months. Even a basic infantry Marine has far more than 2 months training before hie goes to his unit. Boot camp is 43 months and then he goes to School of Infantry. You have a lot to learn before you can start talking about men who are far greater than yourself.

English soldiers are usually cold hearted and US soldiers are more motivated.
