There are no "outer" experiences, its all inner experiences, there are only perceptions of "outside". These perceptions are unreliable, inaccurate and subjective. Its our inner self which influences these perceptions. We may learn from the experiences we obtain from these perceptions and this gives us our sense of self awareness.
There are perhaps three areas: the Self as God-realizing; outer waking consciousness; and waking subconscious, which becomes the dreaming conscious. There are interchanges within and without, yes?
