I only earn $1,280 a month with my job.
I am 20 years old and only been working a few months.
and live in an expensive city.
Could I afford and get a loan to build a tiny house? Would it be cheaper at all than renting someplace for say, $1,000 a month?
I just need someplace to live!

No. You would need to buy the land first and in a city that requires $1000 rent, the land will cost more than you can afford much less build upon even if building with cardboard. Sorry. But keep working and keep the dream alive!

Can you provide us with the dimensions of the out side walls and how many rooms? OK, lets do it 6 ft x 10 ft because this is the going to be the most efficient use of your wood. You will be purchasing 8 ft long 2 x 4's for the framework. It will be pine or fur, which ever is cheapest. Cut the mud seal (the pieces that lay flat on the floor)+ 1. .take 4 of the 2x4's and cut them 5' 8 1/2" 2. take the 4 short pieces and cut them to 1' 8 1/2" 3. take 4 more 2 x 4's and confirm that they are 8 feet long. You may have to cut off a 1/4 or 1/2 inch to get them to 8 feet long. Sorry I will get back and finish this asap. Or you can email me from my profile page and I can send you a diagram.

Dude i know what you mean and the answer is NO unless you buy some waste land or desert land that goes for 10,000$ about 1 or 2 hours from mid city then you can lease that.But it wont happen unless you want to live out in the boondocks in a shack.You need land if not a mortgage etc etc.

Have you thought of a mobile home? Good ones are as little as $25,000 and some owners might sell it to you directly with payments. But with utilities, mortgage and lot rental payment, you'd pay about $800 per month and you can rent a room or studio for less in most towns - but guess it depends if you're in San Francisco or Manhattan.
There are folks in my town who rent space on their property to those who have "Tiny" houses - but I don't know how the utilities get hooked up.

You need a deposit to get a mortgage. If you visit a few mortgage companies they will tell you what the deal is.

first you hhonestly need to take some courses or read a book on personal finance. How could you afford a 1000 a month in rent when you only earn 1280 a month. What about food, etc, etc, etc.
