I'm over 50 and I don't have any clothes that I wore back when I was a teen, nor do I dress like a refugee from 1976. I do have retro inspired pieces and I have a few very special vintage pieces that come from that era. the 70's have some wonderful fashion classics that will never go completely away -however most older women remember the 70's more for the truly awful stuff rather than the classics. You won't find many over 50's dressing like refugees from That 70's Show. We didn't dress like the 70's when the 80's rolled on through and by the 90's most of us had discarded our old high school wardrobes. The new century meant a new wardrobe and a new modern way of looking at clothes and how we dress. We have kept up with the times for the most part -although most of us aren't into the leggings as pants thing! Most mature women I know are like me: they prefer to keep their wardrobe as modern as possible so their clothing choices don't make them look older than they are and out of date.

I think "bell bottoms" are now called "flare pants" or "bootleg/bootcut jeans." Tie-dyed shirts and headbands never went out of style. Platform sandals are now called wedges.

Many 70s fashion elements are still fashionable and even the leading fashionable trend in nowadays. Retro always is the mainstream fashion in recent 20 decades. And I think many retro elements won't be out-fashioned at all.

Yes, a lot of pieces can be inspired by the 70's, or any era.
