Well, you're in luck!

Nothing can effect anything because there is no verb 'to effect'.

Mood is what I gather what you mean by 'mode'.

You are responsible for you, first. Take care of yourself BEFORE letting others' problems affect you.

Like it or not, you are the one choosing to be affected by others' moods. You have the choice to not be.

Some daily meditation or relaxing can ease your stress. So can focusing on something else that gets you out of a stressful household; like a sport.

Do any activity. Exercise can lead to better health, both physical and mental.

You make the choice to not exercise (at least, if you can).

Strive to be the better person (better than you) and you will always have that. Something to hold onto; your sense of well-being that you choose to do what is right rather than what is easy.

That's when you have to find a way to avoid such people.

For example, a good friend of mine had a 'girlfriend' who is a drug addict. I am not kidding here ~ *EVERY* time I allowed them to visit me, they got into the *SAME* argument. Finally, I just said "No, she can't come over here anymore. You two will just get in the same argument. It is no fun for me to listen to the same argument over and over again." At first, my friend was angry at me, but he rather quickly realized that I was right and hence he understood what I was saying.

The word you wanted was 'affected', not 'effected', but that's not a big deal.
