If he had not been hit, he would have enjoyed listening to the music.

Had he not been beaten, he might still be enjoying music.
佢原本嘆緊音樂 He was enjoying music, , 然後佢被打咗then he was beaten,而加佢唔喺度嘆緊音樂He is not enjoying music anymore.

For the record, Godfrey's use of "had he not been beaten up (hit)" is actually grammatically the same as "if he had not been beaten up (hit)".

If he had not been hit, he would have enjoyed listening to music.

(Type 3 conditional- The fact in the past: he was hit and he did not enjoy listening to music)

If he had not been hit, he would have been here enjoying music.

(Type 3 conditional- the fact in the past: he was hit and he was not here to enjoy music)

= If he was not hit, he would still be listening to music here.

Type 2 conditional- it is possible, but very unlikely, that the condition (he will not be hit) will be fulfilled.

That is, the speaker thinks it is rather likely that he will be hit.

Tense involved:-
Main Clause:-
he would have
+perfect infinitive
=would have enjoyed;
dependent clause:-
had he not "been" beaten up
=past perfect, passive;
Hence:-
dependent clause + main clause
=Had he not" been" beaten up,he would have enjoyed (listening to the music.)
Hence:-
Without being hit
=Had he Not "been" beaten up;
Hence:-
In main clause don't just use would enjoy (as infinitive),
In subjunctive clause don't just use past tense---beaten

Had he not got beaten up, he would have enjoyed listening to music.

listen to music ~ 是無 "the"
