I need to know if the Nikon D3100 Digital SLR Camera & 18-55mm G VR DX AF-S Zoom Lens would be a good camera for me. I am pretty much a beginner but I wanted to get a nice camera to video my boyfriend riding motocross. I've been using my phone and its just not the quality I want. I just need to know if this camera would be good for taking pictures and videos of this fast paced sport? I really want a nice camera but hesitant to put all my money into it and regret it afterward. Thanks so much!

No it wouldn't. You are buying an expensive dSLR camera to do video in a very dirty environment. The dSLR was never meant to take such abuse. It's either you get a waterproof digital camcorder ( http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?atclk=Features_Waterproof&Ns=p_PRICE_2%7c0&ci=1871&N=4294548093+4259332489+4259332488+4259332448&view=Grid ) with you doing the shooting or a POV camcorder your boyfriend can attach to his helmet or handlebars ( http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?atclk=Brand_GoPro&sts=ma&N=4291427969&view=Grid&Top+Nav-Search=Submit&Ntt=POV ) to do the videoing himself.

Why aren't you looking to buy a Video Camera? It will be far better for making videos than buying a "stills" camera.
