I got hired by an apparel retailing company last week, and I went to the orientation yesterday. I like the job but I am considering quit because of the scheduling. They said the minimum requirement for the availability for all employees are two night shifts (3pm-11pm) on weekdays, and able to work on all time on weekends. I can't manage it because I am a full time college student. 11pm is pretty late for me because I don't drive and it takes me like half an hour to go home. I have to wake up at 6am the next morning.
Actually they asked me is the scheduling okay during the interview, and I said yes. Now I regret. I should have been more careful that time.
During the orientation, I asked the manager is there any chance I can leave earlier, and she said there's no exception for all employee. She told me to ask coworkers to give me a ride, or take the bus. But that's not the point because I am worrying about my studies.
So what should I do? I know it is all my fault. But I really want to quit.
Is it really okay to quit after orientation? And will this affect my future career? as I heard that employers like to contact your former employers
Please give me some advice!!! I am so frustrated now.
