I would recommend egg waffles to a tourist visiting Hong Kong. And there are two reasons for making this choice.
Firstly, the history has always been the worthiest part of a type food. Egg waffles (雞蛋仔) are spherical eggy waffle and is an eggy leavened batter cooked between two plates of semi-spherical sells; which original created in Hong Kong and have been a favoured street snack in Hong Kong since their emergence in 1950s, when they were made with coal fire heating and sold from street kiosks in Hong Kong. Since egg waffles are original created for over a half-century, which had experienced different period of times, therefore they can truly represent Hong Kong to a tourist.
Furthermore, the popularity is also an essential element to consider. Egg waffles can be served with fruit and flavours such as strawberry, coconut or chocolate. Due to its variety of flavours and the crunchy texture, egg waffles are one of the most popular Hong Kong “street snacks” and were ranked Number 1 in a 100 most popular Hong Kong “street snack” listing. The variety of choices and the high popularity had definitely made the egg waffle as the best food for all ages and people.
On the other hand, people might think street food is tasty but dirty. In my opinion, I disagree with the statement; I think it depends on how the peddlers conserve the food. Some peddlers let the food expose in the air, dust, bacteria and insects might have contacts with the food which brings sickness. Some peddlers cover the food properly and only take it out when customers required.
In summary, due to the fact of the historical value, great variety of choices and high popularity, egg waggles are the best choice of food to recommend to a tourist visiting Hong Kong. And although, street snack might be dirty, such that choosing those which are made in a store and have their product quality assurance can ensure the hygiene issue and the satisfaction. (338 words)
