✔ 最佳答案
“stative verb, state verb
- a verb that describes a state or situation, in which no obvious action takes place.
A stative verb cannot normally be used with the progressive aspect:’
~ from Cambridge Grammar of English

“psychological verb
- a verb expresses a psychological state.
Also called experiencer verb, mental verb, psychological predicate, psych verb; and verb of psychological state.

I felt the cold. (experiencer as a subject)
The cold overpowered me. (stimulus as subject)”
~ from Oxford Dictionary of English Grammar
------------------------------------------------------------------

單看一個字, 不是完整的句子, 未必鑑定 static 或 dynamic verb, 取決于怎樣使用
geek 是 noun
make sure 兩個字組成, verb + adjective

We are staying at Hilton Hotel at the moment. ~ present continuous tense
stay 是 dynamic verb, 是 intransitive verb. 在這句子 stay有 progressive aspect

He stayed quiet.
stay 是 stative verb, 有些字典將 stay 列為 linking verb

Dynamic verbs are contrasted with stative verbs

Do you have a car? (state)
She is having a shower now. (action now)
She have a shower every morning. (regular action)

The food looks good. (state)
What are you looking at? (action now)
I always look at the sports page. (regular action)

We use static verb to talk about
thoughts (believe, know, seem, think, understand, remember, forget, prefer)
feeling (agree, hope, like, love, hate, want, need, doubt)
existence (be, exist)
senses (taste, look, sound, smell, hear)
possession (have, belong, own, owe, possess, belong)
properties of something (cost, contain, include, mean)

傳統 English grammar 教科書, 不覺有 mental verb 這個 term,
Categorize verbs多數是 action verb (transitive/intransitive) 和 linking verb, main verb和 auxiliary verb, 此外 finite verb, 和 non-finite verb, regular verb 和 irregular verb

Stative verbs 可以是 mental verbs
但“mental verb” 有 mental-state verb 和mental-action verb之分
言及stative 與 dynamic, 主要作用是stative verb不使用 continuous tense

個人意見:
跟 action, activity. 有相關, 估計不會是stative verb, 雖然這個 activity 是 physically invisible. (看不見的,無形的)

A stative verb (such as be, have, like, seem, prefer, understand, doubt, know) is used primarily to describe a state or situation as opposed to an action or process. Contrast with dynamic verb.
