He rejected me but still acts interested?

This guy has been flirting with me for months and i was almost 99.9% sure that he likes me back...and one day i sort of throw in a hint and told him that i like him...but he didn't make a move after that...and after that i ask his friends if he likes me back, AND HIS BEST BUDDY SAID NO HE DOESN'T LIKE ME BACK...

i was super embarrassed so i started to avoid him in school...at first he was avoiding me too...but then later he was trying to flirt with me again, and his buddies would tease him a lot when i walk near them....he texted me one time but then i didn't reply him. I didn't flirt back and didn't pay any attention to him because my friend thought he was just playing with my emotions....

Now we haven't talked for a while...and he will avoid eye contact with me whenever we cross paths...

So is he actually interested?...
