If a rug states it is hand tufted in India, then what kind of material is that ?

You can not imagine the rug material by its country, but in India mostly rugs are produced through wool and cottons.

IT should say-could be wool or synthetic. Hand tufting is just how its made.

It doesn't say exactly- but you're probably seeing wool or something very like wool.
